Above is an interesting article on how to protect and recover rare breeds like the Kooikerhondje.
Books and training support Hardcopy book translates into English
“Das Kooikerhondje” by Monika Dassinger; AVAILABLE IN ENGLISH! It provides basic knowledge about the breed and and is perfect for new Kooikerhondje owners. You can order a copy of the book on Amazon.
“The Breeder’s Guide to Raising Superstar Dogs” by Jerry Hope. A training manual for breeders, future puppy owners and trainers who want to influence their future clients. We are following the protocol when we are raising Kooikerhondje puppies in order to give them the best start for their lives.
“Volhard puppy aptitude test” is a puppy temperament test that we strongly believe in and it is the one we use to assess our puppies at 49 days of life.
“Control of Canine Genetic Diseases (Howell Reference Books)” by George A. Padgett
“Project Dog” by Kira Stackhouse; our Toni is representing the Kooikerhondje breed on page 202-203, the money for the book is donated to the San Francisco SPCA. Beautiful dog book with unknown breeds.
“The Complete Book of Dog Breeding” by Dan Rice, DVM
“Puppy Intensive Care – A Breeder’s Guide to Care of Newborn Puppies” by Myra Savant-Harris R.N.
“Buzzards and Butterflies – Human Remain Detection Dogs” by J.C. Judah

West Coast CanineWest Coast Canine Life is a do it yourself dog food. With simple ingredients and West Coast Canine’s powder, you can make amazing food for your dog. Search Dog Vests
Our dogs search through some very tough terrain that can tear their vests. The ones we have used from Leerburg are strong, light and work best with our Kooikers. Lighted Collars
Glowdoggie are the most durable lighting collar we have used. Waterproof and with a bright light that carries far, these collars are great for hunting, searching or when you want to be outdoors at night. Dog Gear
We have had a wonderful experience with the gear we have purchased from Hurtta. The quality of their gear has held up under some pretty tough conditions when it comes to our dogs. We particularly love their harnesses and cooling jackets.
Breeders
If you are looking for a Kooikerhondje puppy, then you are probably aware that they are difficult to find in North America.
If you decide to take a puppy from any breeder, research that breeder beforehand and visit the kennel if you can. A good breeder will know about the Official Kooikerhondje Registry from the Netherlands. This database is invaluable into giving the breeder an insight into all officially produced litters since the 1940s including health information. A good breeder should also be willing to give you health information about their own dogs. Please refer to our health section where we discuss several diseases the Kooikerhondje can be affected with.
Of course you can also contact us, as we are willing to help as best we can.
